8 Nights / 9 Days
Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park
Botswana is a country boasting wonderful wildlife, scenery and culture. This itinerary encompasses all the wonders of this iconic destination: from the varying habitats of the Okavango Delta to the famous Chobe National Park.
Day 1
Arrive into Maun Airport, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. A shared charter will be arranged to Kanana Camp. This flight will take you over the waterways of the Okavango Delta. Enjoy the spectacular views and look out for wildlife along the river banks or in the channels.
Day 2
Experience magnificent game sightings during morning and late afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening so you can look for the more nocturnal animals.
Day 3
Today you may want to explore the delta’s beautiful waterways by boat. Alternatively you may explore the crystal clear waterways by Mokoro. These activities both give you the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Birding is spectacular, and Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry that teems with activity.
Day 4
This morning I would recommend a guided bush walk with a professional guide who will show you interesting plants and trees, spoor and other fascinating fauna and flora. You could also try your hand at some fishing for tilapia, African pike and sharptooth catfish. Later in the morning you will charter from Kanana Camp to Shinde Camp. Have your cameras ready as you fly over this water wonderland.
Day 5
Courtesy of its location Shinde can offer both water and land activities year round which means you have a wonderful choice of activities to choose from. If you are looking for a quieter more peaceful activity I would recommend a motorboat cruise, or a mokoro paddle which will give you the opportunity to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta.
Day 6
Game drives are conducted by a personal guide in comfortable, specially designed game drive vehicles. This activity is highly recommended as it gives you the chance to explore the area looking for the large mammals and predators
Day 7
This morning for the more adventurous, guided walks are also available. This activity brings you close to nature and is to be highly recommended. If you are fishing enthusiast you will enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish. Overnight at Ngoma Safari Lodge.
Day 8
Enjoy a full day drive, with your guide, through the Chobe National Park. Enjoy a river cruise and picnic lunch as part of the day’s activity. This activity will give you the opportunity to see wildlife from vehicle and boat. The Chobe National Park is renowned for the numbers of elephants, predators and other plains game, so there will always be something to see and most of the animals are very relaxed around vehicles and boats so wonderful photographic opportunities. Overnight at Ngoma Safari Lodge.
Day 9
Today you may decide to enjoy the views and wildlife around the camp from the viewing platform, or you may like to visit the community school, clinic and some of the local people’s homes to experience their way of life. Later in the morning a road transfer will be arranged to Kasane airport in time to meet your regional flight.
